LEADING LIGHTS - May 29 - June 16, 2014
Opening Reception: May 29th 6pm - 9pm
The Leading Lights exhibition is a group show featuring 8 artists who reside in Burma, Vietnam, or Cambodia.
Featured artists include: Hoang Phuong Vy,
Nguyen Quang Minh, Lim Khim Katy, Pen Robit, Heng Ravuth, Kyaw Soe, Moe Nyo and Min Zaw.
The East Gallery has worked before with five of the eight artists in the exhibition and Andrew Fitzgerald, the Curator of Leading Lights', is pleased to be receiving an opportunity to see their latest work. The three artists who are new to The East Gallery, Kyaw Soe, Moe Nyo and Min Zaw, are well-established Burmese painters with a number of international exhibitions and prestigious accomplishments under their belt.
For the most part, the artists are relatively young (under 40) and yet all of them have developed a level of confidence in their style such that we are provided with terrific examples of their work in this show. There is also a wide range of media used (Watercolour, Oil, Enamel; Acrylic; Photographic Mosaic) to communicate their vision. Burma, Vietnam and Cambodia are all changing very quickly and it is exciting to see artistic snapshots from these fascinating countries.
