KICKZ is a colloquial expression describing athletic shoe wear. Since the 1970’s, the KICKZ trend has moved progressively from function to customizable wearable art. Retro Revisited examines this evolution, revealing its relationship to branding, fashion, lifestyle, identity, group affiliation, hip-hop and street culture. The second of a four part series by the SIX AH WI Artists’ Collective, Retro Revisited is a multi-disciplinary exhibit featuring photography, paintings, installations, experimental video and sculpture.
