Art Exhibition: Is There Justice? Part 1

A Solo Exhibition by Upcoming Iraqi-Canadian Artist Mais Al-Sheikhly

Arta Gallery presents “Is There Justice? Part 1" - a solo exhibition by an upcoming Iraqi-Canadian artist Mais Al-Sheikhly.

The first in a series, this collection explores the human spirit, the injustices we do to ourselves, and how this turns outwards to create our lived experiences.

Mais Al-Sheikhly began her career as a contemporary abstract artist after having immigrated to Canada as a teenager from Iraq. The traumatic experience left her struggling to find the words to understand the world around her, and as a result, she turned to art to create what she couldn’t express.

A self-taught artist that has been working with the mentorship of Barry McCarthy, she found that cubism and abstract art allowed her to freely express her imagination on the canvas. With over a decade of experience and endless imagination, Mais Al-Sheikhly has presented exhibitions both on the domestic and international stage and she continues to bring her ability to take traditional culture and concepts to create works of art that are both abstract and imaginative in new and intriguing ways.

Mais Al-Sheikhly will be there herself at opening night, where attendees will get a chance to have a meet and greet with the artist.

Daily meet and greet with the artist taking place October 2 - 7, 2020 from 11 AM to 2 PM.
