MS. EMMA DESIGNS WEARABLE ART: PROTECT MONO FUNDRAISER - October 9 - 10, 2019

Opening Reception: Oct. 9, 6 - 9 PM

Ms. Emma Designs returns to Toronto with her beautiful Italian fabrics and one-of-a-kind, hand-made wearable art at a fashion show on October 9th in support of environmental preservation of a rare geological landmark.

Taking her inspiration from nature and using beautiful woven fabrics and dyes from Italy, Sofia Verna has been part of the Toronto and Italian fashion scene for over 40 years. She takes part in art and fashion exhibits and creates her wearable art and wall hangings at her rural property.

Her love of nature and passion for the environment has prompted her to help raise funds in aid of Protect Mono of which proceeds of the show will benefit.

Protect Mono is a non-profit organization fighting a proposed gravel pit at Violet Hill near Highways 10 and 89 in Mono. This beautiful area is a very special geological landmark: it marks the meeting place of three glaciers, which helped form the rolling hills of Mono and Caledon. Yet this significant source of drinking water is slowly being decimated by gravel pits, which can affect ground water and aquifers.

Media and members of the public are invited to the free Fashion Show at Arta Gallery in the Distillery District on Wednesday, October 9th at 6:00 PM with a preview of selected pieces, and a live runway show at 7:00 PM and again at 8:15 PM. Live music and refreshments will enhance this incredible space.
