Ontario is home to Korean Canadians. Koreans started to migrate to Ontario after the devastating Second World War (1939-1945) and Korean War (1950-1953), both of which heavily affected the Korean peninsula. Korean Canadians have made important contributions to the economic, political, social and
cultural fabric of Canadian society.

To remember and celebrate the Korean Heritage Month Canada in 2022, OIS ART OF CANADA hosts an event which is called Korea & Canada International Art Exhibition -“ The Soul of East and West.” This event provides an opportunity for Korea and Canada to understand and experience both countries’ art
and culture. It also enhances a wide range of arts and cultural exchange between Korea and Canada.

The exhibition will provide an opportunity for Canadians and Koreans to re-recognize Koreans’ immigration history and its meaning in Canada, and will improve Koreans self-confidence about their own culture. It will also promote the diverse creativity and historical significance of Korean and Canadian arts and culture to both societies.
