Q&A WITH TORONTO-BASED PHOTOGRAPHER DAVID WILE

As this year our photography exhibition is virtual, Arta Gallery director/curator Fay Athari and the Arta Team has curated a series of artist Q&A to introduce all amazing photographers that are part of our Time Lost exhibition.

Today we are having a Q&A with International photographer based out of Toronto, Canada David Wile who works on a variety of commercial advertising projects.

 

 

Why did you choose to pursue a career as a photographer?

My passion for photography sparked when I was in high school. It was one of the first ways in in which I could express myself in a creative sense. I have always been a believer in following my dreams. Having a photography career is me fulfilling those dreams.

 

What is your favorite subject to photograph?

Travel photography is my favourite. Being able to go to new places around the globe and capture beautiful landscapes and interesting cultures is where my passion lies.

 

What makes the good picture stand out from the average?

The meaning behind the image. Wether that be meaning the photographer creates or meaning the viewer creates.

 

 

Whose work has influenced you most? 

Natures work.

 

What type of cameras do you shoot with?

Canon DSLRs, Sony Mirroless, Phase Medium Format, Fuji GFX100 Medium Format. I have used all these cameras.

 

What kind of tools do you use for post-processing?

I process my images in Capture One, I post process my images in photoshop and Nik Collection.

 

 

What is the most rewarding part of being a photographer for you?

The most rewarding part of being a photographer is to express myself creatively. It gives me great satisfaction to do this. It allows me to connect with my subjects in a way that I would never do otherwise. To stair at something and to study it through my photography
